Avi Yona Bueno (Bambi)

Biography

An internationally renowned Israeli lighting designer, a resident of the Batsheva Dance Company, who has worked on numerous drama, opera, musical and dance productions worldwide.

During his illustrious career, he has collaborated with Israeli musicians and rock bands, theatres, opera and dance companies, as well as television channels. A resident lighting designer of the Batsheva Dance Company, over the past three decades he has closely worked with Ohad Naharin. He has also cooperated with other choreographers, including Yasmin Godder and Sharon Eyal, and a host of companies, such as the Inbal Pinto and Avshalom Pollak Dance Company, Alvin Ailey Dance Company, Israeli Opera, Ballett Frankfurt, Culberg Ballet, LADP, Opéra national de Paris, Stuttgarter Ballett, Compañía Nacional de Danza, etc. Avi Yona Bambi has designed lighting for concerts by Nina Simone, Boney M, Stevie Wonder, Mike Oldfield, The Cure, and many other famous singers and bands.

The numerous honours and accolades he has received include 14 Israeli Theatre Academy Best Lighting Design/Designer of the Year awards, the Shapira Dance Prize, etc.
