Antonio Poli

Biography

Guest of the National Theatre Opera Italian tenor was born in Viterbo and studied at the Opera Studio of Accademia Santa Cecilia in Rome and is actually working with Romualdo Savastano. In summer 2010 he took part in the Young Singer’s Project of Salzburg Festival. Between 2004 and 2006 he took successfully part in different international voice competitions. He is the 2010 winner of 1st prize and the prize of the audience at the 29th International Hans Gabor Belvedere Competition in Vienna in July 2010. In 2006/7 he performed ‘Alessandro’ (“Il re pastore”) with Roma Sinfonietta conducted by Marcello Panni, in June 2007 he sang ‘Bruschino figlio’ (“Il Signor Bruschino” by Rossini) with the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Carlo Rizzari and staged by Daniele Abbado. In 2008 he was part on the “Young ensemble” of Semperoper Dresden, with much success he sang ‘Arthur’ in a concert performance of “Lucie de Lammermoor” at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam in March 2008. This same role he sang 2010 in a staged production in Valencia. In Genova he was heard as ‘Hirte’/’Ein Junger Seemann’ in a new production “Tristan und Isolde” conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti. In London he presented the programme of Salzburg Festival in two concerts. His 2010/11 schedule includes Pendercki’s “Polish Requiem” in Hamburg conducted by the composer, Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solennelle” at the Reale Festival (Rome), his debut in the part of ‘Don Ottavio’ (“Don Giovanni”) in Graz, Berne and Venice and his debut in the part of ‘Belmonte’ (“Die Entführung aus dem Serail”) in Prague. He will return to Valencia for ‘Jaquino’ in a new production “Fidelio” conducted by Zubin Mehta. As a concert singer he performed Mozart’s “Requiem” in Forli and Rieti with the London Symphony Chorus, with the Maderna Orchestra and the Orchestra Giovanni Europei conducted by Paolo Olmi; at the Auditorio Parco della Musica in Rome and for the K festival with the Orchestra Nazionale di Santa Cecilia” conducted by Paul McCreesh; in Palermo with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana conducted by Lothar Koenigs. He also sang Mozart’s „Vesperae solennes de confessore“ and „Krönungsmesse” conducted by Andreas Engelhardt, “Cantate Massoniche” KV 471 and K 623 with the Orchestra di Roma e del Lazio conducted by Lü Jia as well as the “Magnificat” by Johann Sebastian Bach conducted by Martin Weber. In Toronto he sang Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solennelle” in January 2009. Update: September 2010
