Biography

German soprano Anna Gabler was a member of the Deutsche Oper am Rhein (2001–2005) and the Nuremberg State Theatre (2005–2008). Guest appearances led her to the Bayerische Staatsoper and to the Semperoper Dresden, where she worked with Ivor Bolton, Fabio Luisi and Peter Schneider. She gave her Dresden debut as Gretel in a new production of Hänsel and Gretel directed by Katharina Thalbach, followed by revivals of Die lustige Witwe and Freischütz, as well as a new production of Cardillac. In 2007 she debuted in Bayreuth (Ortlinde in Die Walküre under Christian Thielemann). Further international engagements brought her to the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris, the Hamburger Staatsoper under Simone Young, to the Glyndebourne Festival under the baton of Vladimir Jurowski and the New National Theatre in Tokyo. In 2012 she sang Gutrune in the highly acclaimed The Ring at the Bavarian State Opera, in 2013 she gave her role debut as Senta (Der fliegende Holländer) in Bologna, followed by her Salzburg debut as Eva in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, under the baton of Daniele Gatti. In 2015/2016 season, her engagements included Gutrune and the third Norn in The Ring at the Bayerische Staatsoper, debut as Chrysothemis (Elektra) in Bologna and Gutrune at the Oper Frankfurt. At the Prague National Theatre she sang for the first time in April and May 2005 as Freia (Das Rheingold) and Gutrune (Götterdämmerung). In June 2016 she sang Chrysothemis at the State Opera in Prague and in spring 2017 she sings the same role at the Aalto-Theater in Essen. In autumn 2016 she debuted as Salome at the Stadttheater Klagenfurt. Anna Gabler is also a renowned concert singer.
