Andreas Reinhardt

Biography

Andreas Reinhardt is an internationally renowned set and costume creator. In 1975 he emigrated from the former German Democratic Republic and since 1978 has worked as a freelance set designer. He has cooperated on stage productions at the Hamburg, Bavarian and Vienna state operas, at Berlin operas, at the Berliner Ensemble, Deutsches Theater Berlin, in Frankfurt, Brussels, Stockholm, Spoleto, Houston, Amsterdam, Dresden, Leipzig, Cologne, Paris, Nice, at the Salzburg and Bayreuth festivals and at Düsseldorf’s Deutsche Oper am Rhein. He has collaborated with such stage directors as Walter Felsenstein, Alfred Kirchner, Boy Gobert, Nikolaus Lehnhoff, Johannes Schaaf, Hans Hollmann, Götz Friedrich, Günther Krämer and Hans Lietzau. With Kurt Horres he has staged, among other things, Darmstadt premieres of Giselher Klebe’s operas Der Jüngste Tag (The Youngest Day) and Die Fastnachtsbeichte (The Lent Confession), while in Düsseldorf they co-produced Richard Wagner’s The Ring of the Nibelungs.
