Biography

The tenor Aleš Voráček was born in České Budějovice, where he graduated from the Conservatory under the tutelage of Vítězslava Bobáková. Since the beginning of his studies at the conservatory he has performed as a soloist at the South Bohemian Theatre Opera in České Budějovice, where in 2005 he received a permanent engagement. For this theatre, he has prepared both opera and operetta roles, including Nemorino (Donizetti: L‘elisir d’amore), Almaviva (Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia), Mozart‘s Ferrando (Così fan tutte) and Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Adolf (Lortzing:Die Opernprobe), Lyonel (Flotow: Marta), Vítek (Smetana: The Secret), Dvořák‘s Jiří (The Jacobin) and Prince (Rusalka), in which he also introduced himself at the open-air theatre with a revolving theatre in Český Krumlov, then Max (Weber: Der Freischütz) or Ernesto (Donizetti: Don Pasquale). The most noteworthy of his operetta roles is Edwin (Kálmán: Die Czardasfürstin). He has also appeared as a guest at National Theatre Brno, for which he has prepared the role of Idamante (Mozart: Idomeneo). At the National Theatre in Prague he has performed as Smetana’s Vít (The Secret) and Vašek (The Bartered Bride) and Dvořák’s Jirka (The Devil and Kate) and Jiří (The Jacobin), and as Mozart’s Monostatos (Die Zauberflöte). He has also regularly performed at concerts; for example, with the PKF – Prague Philharmonia in Schumann’s Requiem or with Jiří Bělohlávek and BBC Symphony Orchestra in concert performances of The Bartered Bride and The Jacobin in the Barbican Hall in London.
