The production is inspired by Jules Verne’s famous novels, particularly The Mysterious Island. It looks back at the 19th century’s scientific discoveries, the knowledge of geography, geology and astronomy at the time. The action, however, is set in the first decades of the 20th century, the era of the film industry pioneers. The milieu suggests a real film studio, built as the first prototype by Thomas Alva Edison. The audience can look forward to a brand-new conception of the universe of their favourite literary characters. The Extraordinary Voyages of Jules Verne is a colourful and intriguing performance, making use of 21st-century theatre and film hardware, employing several projection screens, animation and fantastic props and costumes, working with multiple media, movement and theatre. It is intended both for Czech audiences and foreign visitors.
Approximate running time, including intermission: 1 hour, 45 minutes, one 20-minute intermission.
