Guest of the Opera
Tenor Yusif Eyvazov grew up in Baku, Azerbaijan and received his musical education at the Baku Academy of Music. In 1997, he moved to Italy and continued his studies there. In the 2015/16 season, Yusif Eyvazov makes a series of important debuts. In September 2015, he excelled as Canio in Los Angeles Opera’s production of I pagliacci conducted by Plácido Domingo, he debuted at the Metropolitan Opera (November 11, 2015) and at the Vienna State Opera (April 28, 2016), in both opera houses as Calaf (Turandot), in June 2016, he debuted at the Mariinsky Theatre in the title role of Otello with Valery Gergiev, and in July 2016, he debuted at both the Paris National Opera and at the Berlin State Opera as Manrico in Il trovatore. His Salzburg Festival debut took place in August 2016, as Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut alongside Anna Netrebko. His other recent performances include Turiddu (Cavalleria rusticana) at the Teatro Filarmonico for the Verona Opera Festival, Radames (Aida) with the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma and the Opera Fiesole, Cavaradossi (Tosca) at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow, the title role of Otello for the Ravenna Music Festival, Des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) alongside Anna Netrebko at the Teatro dell’ Opera in Rome under the baton of Riccardo Muti, and Canio (I pagliacci) at Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Italy under the baton of Paolo Carignani. Yusif Eyvazov lives in Vienna with his wife Anna Netrebko and her son Tiago.
