Biography

Danish Ann Petersen is a well-known international Soprano and is notable for her performances especially in the German repertoire of R. Wagner and R. Strauss. She has been singing at many of the major Opera Houses such as: Wiener Staatsoper, Staatsoper Berlin, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires, Opéra National de Paris, Teatro Real de Madrid and Festspielhaus Baden-Baden. Next to her international career, she is an ensemble member at The Royal Danish Opera. Ann Petersen has recently performed Elsa (Lohengrin) in Hamburg conducted by Kent Nagano (2016), Freia (Rheingold) at Semper Oper Dresden with Christian Thielemann (2016), Senta (Der fliegende Holländer; 2016) in Copenhagen. In 2016 she had her debut as Salome, also at the Royal Danish Opera in Stefan Herheim's production. Further engagements in 2015/16 included Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier; 2015) at Wiener Staatsoper, Leonore (Fidelio; 2015). Concerts followed in Stockholm, Opera de Lyon, Maastricht and Eindhoven, which included Beethoven 9th Symphony, Strauss' Four Last Songs and Isoldes Liebestod, all conducted by Hartmuth Häenchen. In June/July 2016 Ann Petersen sang Gutrune (Götterdämmerung) at the Staatsoper Berlin conducted by Daniel Barenboim. Highlights in the season 2014/2015 included Die Marschallin in Copenhagen, Isoldes Liebestod in a Tribute Concert to Montserrat Caballé at Teatro Real de Madrid, Isolde at the Greek National Opera in Athens, Elisabeth (Tannhäuser) with Barenboim at Staatsoper Berlin and Michal (Saul and David) in Copenhagen. Highlights in the seasons of 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 included Elsa at La Scala di Milano with Barenboim and Jonas Kaufmann, Elisabeth with Barenboim at Staatsoper Berlin, Elisabeth in Copenhagen, Senta the Chorégies d’Orange, Desdemona (Otello) in Copenhagen, Senta in Copenhagen and Wagner Galas in Baden-Baden with Christian Thielemann (Isolde and Elsa), at Opéra de Monte-Carlo (Sieglinde and Isolde) and in Copenhagen (Sieglinde) with Kirill Petrenko. In 2012 Mrs. Petersen sang Isolde at the National Opera with Ben Heppner as Tristan, Kaiserin (Die Frau ohne Schatten) in Copenhagen, Wagner Concert at Opéra de Lyon, Isolde in Copenhagen, Freia at ROH Covent Garden London with Antonio Pappano and Senta with Gianandrea Noseda at Teatro Regio di Torino. In 2011 she made her debut as Isolde at Opéra de Lyon with Kirill Petrenko. She also performed as Elsa at Teatro Colón de Buenos Aires and a Gala Concert in Montpellier with R. Strauss Arias and Orchesterlieder. In 2010 she sang Freia at Opéra National de Paris (Bastille) with Philippe Jordan, Marietta (Die Tote Stadt) with Danish National Opera, Ariadne auf Naxos in Copenhagen and Leonore at Komische Oper Berlin. Her Concert repertoire include among others, Beethoven 9th Symphony, Verdi's Requiem, Dvořák's Stabat Mater, Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, Les Béatitudes by César Franc. She has appeared on CD-recordings and performances of Beethoven's Christus am Ölberge and Strauss' Four Last Songs at the Graz Opera in Odense and in Musikverein in Vienna under the direction of Klaus Peter Flor.
