Alexandra Borodulina

Biography

Born in Riga, after completing her studies at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School, Aleksandra Borodulina enrolled at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of  Music and subsequently went on to study at the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart, from which she graduated in 2012. She also attended master classes led by such renowned musicians as S. Aronowsky, M. Voskresenskiy and G. Hemetsberger. In 2010, she won first prize at a competition in Riga for the best performance of Chopin’s Piano Concerto No. 1 in E minor. While still a student in Riga, she gave pianos lessons at the Pardaugavas Music and Art School, and also worked as a coach at the Emīls Dārziņš Music School. After completing her studies, she served as a repetiteur and pianist at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts and Music and as a coach at the Municipal Theatre in Brno. Since 2014, she has been engaged as a repetiteur at the State Opera in Prague, where she has also performed at concerts. Since 2016, she has been a pianist of the Czech National Symphony Orchestra (appearing within Danny Elfman’s concert, providing live music accompaniment to the screening of the film Harry Potter, etc.).  Moreover, she has worked as a repetiteur and coach at the National Moravian-Silesian Theatre in Ostrava. Within international conducting master classes, she co-performed Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, Brahms’s Symphony No. 1, Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto in B flat minor and other pieces. The opera singers she has collaborated with include Edita Gruberová and Yukiko Kinjo. In 2011, along with G. Cese and K. Cirule, she performed songs at a concert of Latvian music. In 2015, Borodulina and Š. Kocán recorded the CD Songs of Love and Death.
