The renowned Finnish ballet master Juhani Teräsvuori, whose work is known to Czech audiences from guest performances on our stages, is celebrating half a century of his artistic activity. To mark this extraordinary occasion, he held a ballet gala show to which he invited friends from all over the world who have made an impact on his professional career. Teräsvuori’s guests included Petr Zuska, the Artistic Director of the Czech National Ballet, who on 29 August gave at the Lappeenranta City Theatre the world premiere of his new work, Route 50.
Alongside Tereza Podařilová, a Czech National Ballet principal dancer, Petr Zuska himself dances in his latest piece. The score for the choreography has been specially created by Iiro Rantala, one of the leading Finnish jazz musicians, a piano virtuoso and composer, which he himself performed live at the Lappeenranta Ballet Gala.
Route 50 was subsequently staged on 29 August in Tampere, Finland.
