We are aware of the benefit theatre has always had for society and now, in the current paradoxical situation, still has. Theatre has an overreach, it communicates, influences, it is a spiritual added value. Despite not being able to give performances, we strive to provide an emotional experience, to convey beauty. We would like to encourage society, which is at the present time coping with a number of difficulties – not only those directly relating to physical health, but also mental and social problems.

In line with our objective, on Sunday 12 April we will broadcast live a benefit Ballet Gala from the National Theatre in Prague – Dance through it

We seek good and we want to share. Tickets for this gala performance are not on sale, yet you can support another good thing. The whole society will need our help, not just the health service – culture and the non-profit sector will suffer too … Therefore, our gala will be a benefit, fundraising event.
The live transmission of the Czech National Ballet’s gala performance aims to bring art directly to your home, yet it will also highlight the mission of art and document what life is like in difficult times. After all, it is the message we would like to communicate through the moments spent together – Let us be brave and let us not lose hope. #dancethroughit

The Ballet Gala will be held under strict sanitary conditions. What is more, we will show you how the dancers were rehearsing, bearing in mind the necessity of maintaining their physical and mental health. We abide by the government emergency decree, disinfecting the milieu, dancing in face masks… The evening’s programme too reflects the paradoxes during the coronavirus crisis: you will see either solo performances or duets danced by those who can, as they live in the same place. We will thus experience unrepeatable moments.

The Ballet Gala from the National Theatre will be broadcast live on the ČT Art channel on Sunday 12 April from 8 pm, on TV screens and on iVysílání. A live stream will run on the Czech TV and the Czech National Ballet Facebook pages. The streaming will be free to share.
