Biography

Studied for two semesters at the Faculty of Informatics of the VŠB – Technical University in Ostrava; in 1996 he started studying drama at the Janáček Conservatory in Ostrava. By the time of his graduation, he had been playing in the band Kryštof for three years, in which he is the singer, guitarist and songwriter and with whom he has to date recorded six albums, some of which have received Anděl awards from the Academy of Popular Music. While still a conservatory student, he appeared at the Silesian Theatre in Opava. In 2000 he won the Alfréd Radok Award in the Talent of the Year category for his portrayal of the titular role in the production of Hamlet at the Petr Bezruč Theatre in Ostrava, where he subsequently stayed for two years. He has been a member of the National Theatre Drama since 2003. At the present time, he can be seen in the titular role of Shakespeare’s Richard III, a production that has been in the repertoire since 2005. Richard Krajčo has also appeared in a number of films (e.g. The Pied Piper, Bored in Brno, Post Coitum, Non plus ultras, Velvet Killers, Hrubeš and Mareš Are Friends Come Rain or Shine).
