A truly exceptional Swan Lake

The performance of Swan Lake on 4 May was exceptional indeed. We parted with the beautiful production, as it has not been included in the next season’s repertoire. The final Swan Lake performance featured the Czech National Ballet principal dancers Nikola Márová and Michal Štípa, who both cherish the title.

The performance was also exceptional for another reason. Within the Fandíme mámám (Supporting Mums) project, it was attended by little Viky and her mother, whose financial situation did not previously allow them to visit the National Theatre. By giving them tickets, we delivered their wish and delighted them. That is the way it should be.

Rehearsals of Solo for the Two of Us under way

The rehearsals of our new production, Solo for the Two of Us, are now in full swing! The final premiere of the current season is impending and the preparations at the studios are culminating, before they will shift to the stage itself.
Have a look at our dancers rehearsing for Solo for the Two of Us, choreographed and directed by Petr Zuska, the artistic director of the Czech National Ballet.

Miss Julie arriving soon from Plzeň!

We cordially invite you to a performance to be given by the J. K. Tyl Theatre Ballet in Plzeň on 22 May 2017 at 8 pm at the New Stage.

or the very first time in the history of our theatre, the choreographer and director Libor Vaculík, a permanent guest of the Plzeň ballet company, will present at the New Stage his adaptation of Miss Julie by the Swedish author August Strindberg, to music by the Latvian composer Pēteris Vasks. The naturalistic play, which stirred up controversy at the time of its coming into being, portrays the intimate relationship between the noblewoman Julie and the servant Jean, which is at stark variance with the social convention. Vaculík’s dance idiom profoundly reflects the psychology of Strindberg’s heroes, as performed by the leading dancers of the Plzeň ballet company.

Come to the New Stage on 22 May.

The tickets are already on sale!
