Tomáš Rychetský

Tomáš Rychetský was born on April 30, 1978 in Jihlava. He attended the DSF dance studio under the tutelage of Daniel Záboj, and a private dance conservatoire in Hradec Králové. At the age of 18 he moved to Prague, where he completed his studies at the Dance Conservatoire of the Capital City of Prague (modern and folk dance). During his studies he collaborated with a host of foreign lecturers and at the conservatoire, together with David Stránský, attempted his first choreographies: Brothers, Hair, Once upon a Time… , Ecstasy, Catch Me!. In 2000 he was taken on by the Prague Chamber Ballet, where he danced in choreographies of major Czech and foreign creators: Jan Kodet (I Kiss with Respect…), Jiří Kylián (Six Dances), Pavel Šmok (Stabat Mater, The Pigeon, Sinfonietta, Golem, The Wedding), Libor Vaculík (Slavic Duets, Don Juan, Hiroshima, Dances according to Brahms), Petr Zuska (Sonata, Little Gallows, Maria’s Dream), Christopher Bruce (Sergeant Early’s Dream), Patrick Delacroix (Son Chemin), Robert North (Bolero). Since the 2003/2004 season he has been a member of the National Theatre Ballet in Prague, dancing chorus as well as minor solo roles: Pietro in the production Lucrezia Borgia (choreography: Libor Vaculík), Ways 03 (choreography: Petr Zuska), Stamping Ground (choreography: Jiří Kylián), Álbum Familiar (choreography: Conny Janssen), Through Nana’s Eyes (choreography: Itzik Galili), Ibbur, or A Prague Mystery (choreography: Petr Zuska). Tomáš Rychetský has continued his choreographic activity: Brothers (Tanec Praha festival 2001), Alter-ego (Eurovision competition in London), The War of the Roses (Choreography Competition CR 2001), An Angel by Mistake, Positive…? (included in the repertoire of the Prague Chamber Ballet), Lucky Seven, Four (Tanec Praha festival 2004). In February 2005 his first independent choreography, Aimless Fragility, had its premiere within the dance evening Miniatures staged at Prague’s National Theatre. Premiered in May was the project NANOPICTURE, inspired by “Nano Story“ by the Czech band TATABOJS.
