Vojtěch Šafařík

Biography

After graduating from Prague’s Jan Kepler Grammar School and five semesters of studying biology at the Faculty of Natural History of Charles University, and following previous singing courses with the National Theatre soloist Luděk Vele, he was admitted to the Prague Conservatoire. He is in his sixth year of study there under the tutelage of the baritone Professor Roman Janál. In 2003 he introduced himself in the role of Sarastro in a school performance of Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte. At the present time, he is appearing as a guest at the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theatre in Pilsen in Novák’s opera The Lantern (Head-waiter) and is preparing for the role of Masetto in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Ústí nad Labem Theatre. Vojtěch Šafařík has also engaged in concert activity and as a soloist has worked with several ensembles, among them the Hradec králové Philharmonic, Musica Florea, Collegium Marianum, Capella regia and Ensemble inegal.
