Soloist of the Opera
Veronika Hajnová studied voice at the Conservatory and the University of Performing Arts (Ľuba Baricová) in Bratislava. She attended several master classes in the Czech Republic and Germany. While still a student, she performed at the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, first as a guest, and from 2002 to 2004 as a member of the opera ensemble. From 2004 do 2011 she was a soloist of Prague State Opera, since January 1, 2012 she has been a soloist of the Czech National Opera. She has made guest appearances at the National Theatre in Brno. She was a semi-finalist of the international Belvedere Singing Competition in Vienna, where she won the CNIPAL award. She has performed at a host of music festivals, including Prague Spring, Smetana’s Litomyšl, the Saint Wenceslas Festival in Prague and Ostrava, Loket Cultural Summer, Opernair in Gars am Kamp, Settembre musica in Milan, etc. Her repertoire includes the title role in Bizet’s Carmen; Charlotte (Massenet: Werther); Dalila in Saint-Saëns’s opera Samson et Dalila at the Plzeň opera, for which she received a nomination for the 2002 Thalia Award; the roles of Dorabella (Mozart: Così fan tutte), Suzuki (Puccini: Madame Butterfly), Amneris (Verdi: Aida), which she also performed on tours of Japan and Europe (France, Germany, Spain and Portugal); Olga (Tchaikovsky: Eugene Onegin); and, when it comes to the Czech repertoire, the Dvořák roles of the Witch (Rusalka) and Kate (The Devil and Kate). Veronika Hajnová has also performed at concerts, where she has sung songs and oratorios. In July 2008 she appeared as a guest at Opéra Municipal de Marseille, where she sang the mezzo-soprano part in Verdi’s Requiem under the conductor Cyril Diederich.
