Biography

Shaina graduated from Alma College with a bachelor’s in psychology, and from Western Michigan University with her degree in vocal performance. She is currently pursuing her master’s degree in vocal performance at Indiana University. Shaina has sung in the Alma College Choir, Western Michigan University Chorale, Indiana University opera chorus, and University Singers. She has been the featured soprano soloist in the Alma College Choir performances of Handel’s Israel in Egypt as well as Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana. This year Alma College welcomed her back as the soprano soloist for Handel’s Saul. At Western Michigan University, she sang the role of the Guardian Angel in Bruce Trinkley’s opera Eve’s Odd’s as well as Madame Hertz in scenes from Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirektor. At Indiana University she recently sang the role of the Marschallin in scenes from Strauss’s Der Rosenkavalier. Shaina has previously studied with Dr. Barbara Burdick and Dr. Carl Ratner. She is currently a student of Carlos Montane.
