Sami Luttinen

Biography

The Finnish bass Sami Luttinen studied singing at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. During his numerous stage appearances he has worked with Roger Norrington, Jiří Kout, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and other renowned conductors. Since 1993 he has performed as a guest at the Savonlinna Opera Festival. In 1995 he was engaged by Kiel Opera. Since the 1997/1998 season he has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein. In April 2000 he debuted at Milan’s La Scala as Truffaldin (Ariadne auf Naxos). His repertoire also comprises the roles of Leporello (Don Giovanni), the Monk (Don Carlos), Banquo (Macbeth), Fasolt (Das Rheingold), Raimondo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Pimen (Boris Godunov), Seneca (L’Incoronazione di Poppea) and Collin (La Bohème). His recent successes include the four-role in Tales of Hoffmann and the Commander (Don Giovanni).
