Biography

Born in Baltimore, Maryland, from 2001 to 2006 studied with Olga Toziak at Ballet Studio No 7 in Columbia. While still a student, she won the International Ballet Competition in Varna, Bulgaria, was a finalist in the Youth America Grand Prix and won the Grand Prix at the International Ballet Competition in Artek, Russia. In 2006 she became a soloist of the Ukrainian National Ballet, where she performed in the Pas de trois and Dance of the Large Swans in Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, in the role of Ingrid in Peer Gynt and in the Pas de Action and Pas de trois in La Bayadere.
In the 2008/2009 season Rebecca King joined the State Opera Prague as a demi-soloist and one year later was named a soloist. She appeared in the Pas de trois in Swan Lake, in the titular role of Cinderella and as Anastasia in the ballet Sleeping Beauty – The Czar’s Last Daughter. She dazzled in the double role of Odette / Odile in Swan Lake and as Myrtha in Giselle
Since the start of the 2011/12 season she has been engaged as a soloist at the Czech National Ballet, portraying Odette / Odile in Swan Lake (choreography: Kenneth Greve), the Christmas Fairy in the ballet The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol (choreography: Youri Vàmos), Princess Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty (choreography: Javier Torres). She has also danced in the duet Empty Title (choreography: Petr Zuska), part of the mixed bill Le sacre du printemps and in the choreography In The Middle Somewhat Elevated (choreography: William Forsythe), part of triple bill Americana III
Rebecca King has also performed at several gala performances, including in Karlsruhe, Germany, and at the Anaheim International Dance Festival in California.
