Biography

Italian soprano Raffaella Milanesi completed her studies in her hometown, Rome, at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 1997. Since then she has sung many different roles including Ottavia (Monteverdi: L‘incoronazione di Poppea), Cleopatra (Handel: Giulio Cesare), Euridice (Haydn: L’anima del filosofo), Mozart‘s Elettra (Idomeneo), Donna Anna (Don Giovanni), Susanna (Le nozze di Figaro), Tamiri and Aminta (Il re pastore) and Servilia (La clemenza di Tito), as well as Norina (Donizetti: Don Pasquale) and Musetta (Puccini: La bohème). She is a regular guest at the opera houses of Amsterdam, Antwerp, Bordeaux, Brussels, Lausanne, Luxembourg, Madrid, Montpellier, Paris, Salamanca, Toulouse, Vienna, as well as at Festivals like Ambronay, Beaune, Eisenstadt, Innsbruck, Montpellier and Potsdam. During the last three years she made the following projects: Haydn’s Berenice  with Christoph Poppen and with Andreas Spering, Pergolesi’s Sallustia  in Jesi and Montpellier (recorded live on DVD), Clorinda (Rossini: La Cenerentola) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and at La Monnaie in Brussels with Marc Minkowski, Donna Anna (Don Giovanni) in Montpellier, Sandrina (Haydn: Infedelta delusa) in Potsdam, Silvia (Haydn: L'isola disabitata) and Aristea (Pergolesi: L'Olimpiade) with Alessandro de Marchi in Innsbruck, Monteverdi’s Proserpina (L‘Orfeo) and Giunone (Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria) at La Scala in Milan with Rinaldo Alessandrini and Robert Wilson, Zerlina (Mozart: Don Giovanni) at the Grand Théâtre de Genève, Handel‘s Messiah with Václav Luks and Collegium 1704 in Prague and Halle, Zidiana (Vivaldi: Il Teuzzone) with Jordi Savall in Versailles, Argene (Pergolesi: Olimpiade) at the Teatro San Carlo Napoli and at the Theater an der Wien, Guglielmo (Pergolesi: San Guglielmo), Lisaura (Handel: Alessandro) at the Handel Festival in Karlsruhe, La Contessa (Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) at the Opéra de Rennes. Among her next engagements are concerts in Potsdam-Sansoucci, Prague, Rome and Spain, Handel’s Lisaura in Karlsruhe and Megacle (Mysliveček: Olimpiade) with Václav Luks and Collegium 1704 in Prague, Cannes, Rouen and Luxembourg.
