Guest of Opera
Petra is an opera singing graduate from the class of Professor V. Stracenská at the VŠMU – the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. She also participated in singing master classes led by prof. J.Nesterenko, prof. E.Bláhová and L.Baricová. Already during her studies, Petra Nôtová was awarded the second prize at the Austrian Sommer-akademie and third prize at the M.Š.Trnavský International Singing Competition. At present she has been studying with the American soprano singer Nancy Henninger. After her university graduation in 2001 Petra Perla-Nôtová was engaged in the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava, where she made her début as Annina in Night in Venice, under the direction of L.Vaculík. She further introduced herself to audiences in Mozart's roles such as Papagena and also later, Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Zerlina and in Don Giovanni under the direction of J.Bednárik. He then engaged Petra as Clorinda in La Cenerentola and, one year later, as Marie in La fille du Regiment, the role that earned her great success. In the same year Petra cooperated with the director Z.Gilhus on the baroque opera Alcina, where she played the lead role. She also introduced herself as Musetta in La Bohéme, Oscar in Un Ballo di Maschera, the Niece in Peter Grimes, Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride, the First Nymph in Rusalka ... In 2002 Petra Perla-Nôtová was cast in the role of Sophia in the opera Werther in the J.K.Tyl Theatre in Plzeň. Directed by the Forman Brothers, she, for the first time on stage, introduced herself to Prague audience as Felicie in La Belle et la Bête in 2003. Subsequently, Petra Perla-Nôtová has performed as a guest in various performances in the Prague National Theatre, such as Esmeralda in The Bartered Bride or Jano in Jenůfa, directed by J.Nekvasil. Since accepting the engagement with the National Theatre in 2006, she successfully debuted as Norina in Don Pasquale, then toured Japan in the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. Other roles followed - Lénio in The Greek Passion, Barče in The Kiss, Musetta in La Bohéma. Petra played the role of Servilie in a very successful performance of La clemenza di Tito, under the direction of the famous Ursel and Karl-Ernst Herrmanns. In 2010 Petra Perla-Nôtová newly studied the role of Pamina in a production of Die Zauberflöte for the J.K.Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, and in this role she also performed in the Prague State Opera. For the J.K.Tyl Theatre in Plzeň, in 2011 Petra performed the part of Gilda in Rigoletto, directed by the famous and controversial Hungarian director Róbert Alföldi. In the same year she also sang Susanna in the performance of Le nozze di Figaro in the National Theatre in Brno, in cooperation with the director Annette Jahns and the conductor Caspar Richter. For the Slovak National Theatre in Bratislava she performed Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus operetta. In 2012 Petra Perla-Nôtová newly studied the role of Adina in L´elisir d´amore. This year she also shone as Gilda at the famous International Music Festival in Český Krumlov. In January 2013 she toured Japan as a guest performer of the Czech National Theatre in the role of Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro. In May 2013 she shone as Gilda in the premiere of the opera Rigoletto in the Košice State Theatre. In autumn of the same year she stared in this role again, this time in the Slovak National Theatre, conducted by Friedrich Haider. At the beginning of 2014 Petra performed in the South Bohemian Theatre as Micaela in the opera Carmen. Her extensive concert activity has taken her to Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czech Republic, Hungary and Slovakia. She has worked with very distinguished conductors, such as Asher Fish, Jiří Bělohlávek, Heiko Mathias Förster, Mario de Rose, Alessandro De Marchi, Oliver Dohnányi, Jiří Kout, Jaroslav Kyzlink, Peter Feranec and others.
