Petr Veleta

Biography

Petr Veleta graduated from the Dance Conservatory in Prague. He also took part in a one-year residency at the London School of Contemporary Dance and studied choreography at the Music Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague. He has danced as a soloist of the Slovak National Theatre Ballet in Bratislava and the Music Theatre in Karlín, and worked as artistic director and choreographer at the Olomouc theatre. As a dance pedagogue and choreographer, he has worked both in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and participated in several projects in England and Germany. At the present time, he is assistant stage director of the National Theatre Opera in Prague. Petr Veleta’s other activities include dance and movement therapy for mentally and physically handicapped senior citizens, which he has carried out within the programmes of the Czech Alzheimer’s Society and the Gerontology Centre in Prague.
