Peter Littlefield

Biography

He studied English Literature at the University of California, Berkeley. He has written and directed many theater works, including Punch for Boys, The Cure and ‘Round Midnight with composer Evan Lurie. These were performed at the Kitchen, the Pyramid and other theaters and clubs in New York City. He Collaborated with Christopher Alden this season on Händel’s Partenope at the English National Opera, where they also staged Janáček’s The Makropulos Case. He and Mr. Alden have staged Verdi’s Nabucco at Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail at Theater Basel, Händel’s Imeneo at Glimmerglass Opera, Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia at New York City Opera, Thomson’s The Mother of Us All at The San Francisco Opera and Berg’s Wozzeck at Dallas Opera. Other projects: Brecht – Weil: The Threepenny Opera at the Long Beach Opera, Wagner: The Rhinegold and The Valkyrie with the Eos Chamber Orchestra, and Mozart: Il Sogno di Scipione and Händel: Arianna in Creta at the Gotham Chamber Opera.
