Guest of the Opera
Slovak baritone Pavol Remenár joined the company of Slovak National Theatre Opera as a soloist in September of 2000, when he debuted in the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni. Since then he has sung number of roles on this stage: Belcore (Donizetti: L'elisir d'amore), Rossini’s Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) and Dandini (La Cenerentola), Mozart’s The Count (Le nozze di Figaro) and Papageno (Die Zauberflöte), Orfeus (Gluck: Orpheus and Eurydice), Silvio (Leoncavallo: I pagliacci), Puccini’s Marcello and Schaunard (La bohème) and Sharpless (Madama Butterfly), Valentin (Gounod: Faust), Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin and Jelecky (The Queen of Spades), R. Strauss‘ Harlequin (Ariadna auf Naxos) and Jochanaan (Salome), Goryantchikov and (in Prague) Shishkov (Janáček: From the House of Dead) etc. He is also a regular concert artist, his repertoire includes Fauré’s Requiem, Berlioz’s L’Enfance du Christ, Saint-Saëns‘ Oratorio de Noël, Handel’s Te Deum laudamus, Janáček’s Amarus, Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen as well as many songs. At the Prague opera stage, he debuted as Puccini’s Sharpless at the State Opera (autumn 2014).
