Biography

The Austrian baritone, Paul Armin Edelmann, was a member and soloist of the famous Wiener Sängerknaben. He studied singing with his father, renowned opera bass Otto Edelmann at the Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Shortly after completing his studies he became a member of the Theater Koblenz in Germany, where he sang over 30 roles. In 1998, Paul Armin Edelmann went freelance and moved back to Vienna. Since then he has sung at the Vienna State Opera, Vienna Volksoper, Teatro Real Madrid, Komische Oper Berlin, Prinzregentheater in Munich, Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie Brussels, Opéra National de Paris, Opéra de Rouen, San Diego Opera, New National Theatre in Tokyo, Theatro Municipal Rio de Janeiro, Hongkong Opera, at the opera houses in Darmstadt, Wiesbaden, Stuttgart, Cologne, Frankfurt, Leipzig and Düsseldorf, at the Opera Ireland Dublin and the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, and also at the Lincoln Center Festival New York, San Sebastian Festival, Bregenz Festival, Rheingau Music Festival, at the Palau de les Arts Valencia, Center of the Performing Arts Beijing and Palacio de Bellas Artes Mexico City, Konzerthaus in Vienna, and others. Paul Armin Edelmann is also a sought-after concert singer. His discography includes albums Schumann – Selected Songs and Die schöne Magelone with pianist Charles Spencer, the album Max Reger – Orchestral Songs with the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland Pfalz (both the label Capriccio) and Schubert – Lieder album.
