Oldřich Vlček

Biography

Member of the National Theatre Opera Orchestra - First violin, Concert master Oldřich Vlček, violinist and conductor, graduate of Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts. As a solo player (violin, as well as viola and viola d’amore), he has collaborated with such world-renowned artists as J. Suk, B. Hendricks, P. Schreier, Sir Charles Mackerras, M. Rostropovich, etc. He has combined his musical career with the post of concert master of the Prague Chamber Orchestra and, primarily, Virtuosi di Praga, which he founded in 1976. His discography is extensive too, both as a soloist and conductor. His other activities include annually organising and participating in the Pontes – Bridges of Understanding International Music Festival, which he established in 1995. Update: November 2008
