Guest of the Opera
Baritone, Nicholas Davis is a recent alum of the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, & Dance. In the 2012-2013 season he performed the role Harlekin in Ariadne auf Naxos with the University Opera. In the 2013-2014 season he performed Bartolo in Rossini's Il barbiere di siviglia, made role debuts as Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro and Ford in Falstaff, and made his musical theatre debut as Jim in Big River. He has performed a variety of roles including: Don Basilio in Il barbiere di siviglia, Colline in La boheme, Abimelech in Samson et Dalila, Papageno in The Magic Flute, the Pirate King in The Pirates of Penzance with the University of Kentucky, the Janiec Opera Company, and the Kentucky Symphony. Nicholas was a young artist with the Des Moines Metro Opera, an apprentice artist with the Santa Fe Opera, and is currently a young artist at Chicago Opera Theatre. Nicholas has been awarded prizes by the American Opera Society of Chicago and was the first American winner of the “Song prize” and junior division of the International Antonin Dvorak Singing Competition.
