Monique Simon

Biography

Monique Simon studied singing in Paris. In 1994 she was awarded the Juventus-Preis of the Council of Europe and the C.-N. Ledoux Institute. In 1996 she made her debut as the Third Lady (Die Zauberflöte) at Opéra Lyon. As a coloratura mezzo-soprano, her greatest preference is for works by Händel, Mozart and Rossini, but in her extensive repertoire she has also rendered roles created by other composers. Since 1998 she has been a member of Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she has appeared, among other roles, as Marquise de Berkenfield (La fille du régiment), Magdalena (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), Tisbe (Cinderella), Meg Page (Falstaff), Marcellina (Le nozze di Figaro) and Proserpina (L’Orfeo).
