Miroslav Sabo

Biography

Miroslav Sabo is currently assistant lecturer at the Fashion Art Studio, Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague, from which he graduated with a master´s degree after six years of studies in 2010. In 2006, he worked with the Slovak designer Boris Hanečka on the latter´s fashion collection Avon Crystal Aura. While still a student at the Academy, he went on a study visit at the ENSAAMA Olivier de Serres Academy in Paris, and subsequently did a stretch as assistant stylist drawing up trend books for the studio Peclers Paris and working as trend advisor with individual clients. In October 2010, he did a stint at Bruno Pieters in Antwerp, Belgium, working on a new collection for the brand. He reached the final round of the 2011 Top Style Designer competition with his academy degree collection The New (Wo)Man. His involvement in the world of fashion has been manysided, including previously as writer and illustrator for the Slovak magazine INSPIRE, and at present as stylist for the magazines and newspapers Esprit, Hospodářské noviny, MEN/WOMEN ONLY, and KRAUS. His design output has been featured in the Czech version of Elle and Dolce Vita magazines. As a stage costume designer, Miroslav Sabo made his debut with costumes for the National Theatre in Brno production of Strauss´Elektra (premiere May 18, 2012). He worked on that commission together with the production´s stage director, Rocc, with the two artists also collaborating on the set design. Their work together now continues at the National Theatre in Prague opera, with design for the company´s new production of Debussy´s opera Pelléas et Mélisande.
