Biography

Born in Wilmington, Delaware, American soprano Meagan Miller studied at Washington and Lee University, the Juilliard School and the Juilliard Opera Center, and is a winner of the MET National Council Auditions and the George London Competition. Since her sensational European debut as Ariadne (Strauss: Ariadne auf Naxos) in 2009 at the Vienna Volksoper, she is making celebrated debuts on important stages all over the world, interpreting the leading ladies of Mozart, Strauss, Verdi and Wagner. Her repertoire also includes Strauss’ Daphne, Danae, The Marschallin (Der Rosenkavalier) and Empress (Die Frau ohne Schatten; debut at the Metropolitan Opera in November 2013), Wagner’s Elsa, Sieglinde, Brünnhilde, Eva, Senta, Isolde and Elisabeth, Verdi’s Desdemona and Elisabetta as well as Mozart’s Contessa Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Donna Anna and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Britten’s Ellen Orford (Peter Grimes), Puccini’s Minnie (La fanciulla del West) and Korngold’s Marie/Marietta (Die tote Stadt). Recent engagements led her to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Hamburg State Opera, Leipzig Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Vienna State Opera, New York City Opera, Teatro Massimo di Palermo, Montreal, Luxembourg, as well as the Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Edinburgh and Lucerne Festivals, Carnegie Hall and Avery Fisher Hall in New York, Kennedy Center in Washington and Hollywood Bowl.
