Chorus master of the National Theatre Opera Chorus

Biography

He studied orchestra and chorus conducting at Brno’s Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts (JAMU) under the tutelage of Emil Skoták and Josef Pančík. He also studied at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt in Weimar, Germany under the tutelage of Prof. Gunter Kahlert. While still a student, he collaborated with the Olomouc Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra, conducting, for example, Janáček’s Taras Bulba, Prokofiev’s suite from the ballet Romeo and Juliet and Rachmaninov’s Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini for piano and orchestra. Since September 2007 he has been a chorus master of the National Theatre Opera where he has participated in the productions of Verdi’s Falstaff, Janáček’s The Makropulos Case (both in 2008), Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Offenbach’s Les contes d’Hoffmann, Janáček’s Káťa Kabanová, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore (all in 2010) and Die Entführung aus dem Serail (2011), Ivanovićʼs Enchantia (2012), Smetanaʼs The Two Widows, Janáčekʼs The Cunning little Vixen (2014), and From the House of the Dead (2015), Stravinskyʼs The Nightingale, Tchaikovskyʼs Iolanta (2015) and Giordanoʼs Andrea Chénier (2016). In the State Opera in Prague he has prepared Boitoʼs Mefistofele (2015). As an assistant conductor, he participated in the staging of Philip Glass’s opera Les enfants terribles (2011), directed by Alice Nellis. Moreover, he devotes his time to French-language linguistic and phonetic consultancy with a focus on opera singing.
