Biography

Soprano Marta Reichelová studied at the Janáček Conservatoire in Ostrava and the Janáček Academy of Music in Brno. A permanent guest artist of the National Theatre in Brno, she also regularly works with the National Theatre in Prague, the Moravia-Silesia National Theatre in Ostrava, and leading Czech orchestras. Her repertoire encompasses a gallery of lyric and coloratura soprano parts in Czech and world operas, including among others the title role in The Cunning Little Vixen, Jano (Jenůfa), Barče (The Kiss), Esmeralda (The Bartered Bride), First Wood Nymph (Rusalka), Zerlina (Don Giovanni), Despina (Così fan tutte), the Queen of the Night (Die Zauberflöte), Oscar (Un ballo in maschera), Ophélie (Hamlet), Cook (The Nightingale), or Maid (Powder Her Face). She has to her credit two Thálie Award nominations, both for her creations at the National Theatre in Brno (Thomas Adès: Powder Her Face, 2016; and the role of First Soprano in Michael Nejtek/Jiří Adámek: The Rules of Civility and Decent Behaviour in Modern Society, 2017). She sang the part of Jano in concert productions of Jenůfa conducted by Jiří Bělohlávek, at the Rudolfinum in Prague and at London´s Royal Festival Hall (live BBC broadcast). She is equally active as a concert singer, appearing in recitals and making concert tours including a string of performances in China taking in Beijing, Shanghai and another seven cities. She has worked with major orchestras including the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Brno Philharmonic, the Ostrava Janáček Philharmonic, the Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, and others.
