Marcela Benoniová

Biography

Marcela Benoniová is a graduate of the Prague Conservatoire, the same city‘s Academy of Music, and the Maurice Béjart School of Drama and Dance in Brussels. She subsequently furthered her qualifications during a number of study and work visits to various institutions in the U.S.A., United Kingdom, Germany, and France. She worked with the Prague National Theatre´s ballet company, and later on, at Prague´s Laterna Magica theatre. Simultaneously, she has devoted part of her time to teaching, at Cologne´s Rheinische Musikhochschule, and currently at the Drama Faculty of the Academy of Music in Prague, lecturing in dance, stage movement, and flamenco dancing. In her capacity as choreographer, she has worked with numerous ballet and drama companies (Prague National Theatre, Laterna Magika, Theatre na Vinohradech, Labyrint, Prague City Theatres, ABC, Southern Bohemia Theatre in České Budějovice, Kladno Municipal Theatre, F.X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec; and with as many leading stage directors, including Jan Kačer, Evald Schorm and others. Her most memorable choreographies have included Vox clamantis, Pragensia  (Petr Eben / Laterna Magica); Dance Hall  and Windows (musical collage; Petr Eben / National Theatre); and Parables; Dandelion Romance  (Bohuslav Martinů / Studio Paraboly). She has worked regularly with various film studios and with Czech Television.
