Marcel Javorček

Marcel Javorček studied the piano at the Ostrava Conservatory (with Monika Tugendliebová), and composition (with Igor Katajev) and the piano (with Miroslav Langer) at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, from which he graduated in 2001. At the present time, he works there as a lecturer at the Piano Cooperation Department. He has garnered a number of accolades at piano and composition competitions, including the Nadezhda Sazhin-Pochlebina Prize, bestowed upon the best piano students. As a recipient of the scholarship from the Fondation de Tarrazi, he spent the 1998/99 academic  year studying at the Conservatoire national supérier de musique et de danse in Paris. 


Marcel Javorček has performed with the Czech Philharmonic, the Prague Philharmonia, the Prague Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, the Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, the Brno State Philharmonic, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, the North Bohemia Philharmonic Teplice, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, etc.


He has appeared within the Czech Chamber Music Society concert cycles, as well as within the Czech Philharmonic’s chamber series, and has also performed at the Ludwig van Beethoven Music Festival, the Young Smetana Litomyšl and the Young Platform festival in Karlovy Vary, where he received the Prize of the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. Moreover, he has given concerts in Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, the UK, Belgium, Sweden, Turkey, Israel, Jordan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, the USA, Mexico, Australia and New Zealand. He has made recordings for Czech Radio, Radio France, BBC Radio, Czech Television, BBC TV, etc. In July 2004, he debuted at the Proms at London’s Royal Albert Hall, performing as a soloist of the Prague Philharmonia. A live recording of the concert has been released by Warner Classics.
