Lukáš Kodoň

Guest of the Opera

The stage director and producer Lukáš Kodoň studied drama direction at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, with his doctoral thesis being on the application of new media in theatre. While still a student, he directed the productions of Salome (Oscar Wilde, 2004) and Sleeping Around (Mark Ravenhill, Hilary Fannin, Stephen Greenhorn, Abi Morgan, 2006). Moreover, he conceived and directed the alternative art festivals at the former cement factory in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia (Welcome to the Cementary, 2005, 2006, 2007). As a creator of the directional and staging concept of video scenes, he has worked with the directors Ján Uličiansky (Uličiansky: The Four Sprites and the Fairy, State Theatre in Košice, 2010; and Benjamin Britten:The Little Sweep, Slovak National Theatre Opera, Bratislava, 2010), Juraj Nvota (Shakespeare: The Winter’s Tale, New Stage, Bratislava, 2010; and Ján Palárik: Reconciliation, Slovak National Theatre, Bratislava, 2015) and Sláva Daubnerová (Illuminarium, P.A.T. Theatre in Bratislava, 2013; Orango, National Theatre Opera in Prague, 2015; etc.). Lukáš Kodoň has to date collaborated with the theatres Arena, Artyci, Debris, New Stage, P.A.T. and the Slovak National Theatre, with the production companies and TV stations KuulTV, GoodTV, TV JOJ and TV Markíza, and the internet television station of the Slovak daily SME.
