Biography

One of the finest young Croatian singers, Kristina Kolar is currently a soloist of the Croatian National Theatre Opera in Rijeka. She studied voice with Ljiljana Molnar-Talajić, and after graduating from the Music Academy in Zagreb, under the guidance of Zdenka Žabčić Hesky, she continued to hone her technique with Giuseppe Montanari at the Accademia Lirica del Rotary International in Milan and attended other master classes. Her repertoire includes the roles of Abigaille (Nabucco), Maddalena (Andrea Chénier), the title roles in Turandot, Aida, Manon Lescaut, Tosca and Carmen, Laura Adorno (La Gioconda), Dorabella (Così fan tutte), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Princess de Bouillon (Adriana Lecouvreur), Preziosilla (La forza del destino), Gertrude (Hamlet), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) and others. She is the holder of the 2010 Milka Trnina Prize, which she received from the Croatian Music Society for her portrayal of Santuzza, and the Croatian Theatre Prize for the role of Métella in Offenbach’s operetta La vie parisienne. In the 2012/13 and 2013/14 seasons, she received awards for her performances of Aida and Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni). In 2014, she made a tour of Japan. He has also performed on opera stages in Maribor, Zagreb, Split, Poznan and Teatro Verdi di Triste. Kristina Kolar is also an active concert artist and has recorded three albums featuring sacred music.
