Klára Kutilová

Biography

soloist of the National Theatre Ballet Klára Kutilová was born in Prague. At the age of six she began attending the ballet preparatory school of the National Theatre. Between 1985 and 1993 she studied at the Dance Conservatory in Prague, the main subject with Professor Neckářová and the Slavickýs. During her studies she took part in dance festivals in La Baule, France, and Amsterdam. In the 1993–1994 season she became a member of the National Theatre Ballet and in 2004 a soloist. The most notable roles in her repertoire include Myrtha in Giselle, the Puppet in Coppelia, the Wicked Sister in Cinderella, Brilliant in Sleeping Beauty, Pas de trois in Swan Lake, the Spanish Woman and Colombina in The Nutcracker, Desdemona in The Moor’s Pavan, the Christmas Fairy in the new version of the ballet The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol by the choreographer Youri Vamos (short list for the Thalia Award 2004), Clemance in Raymonda, Pas de six in John Cranko’s The Taming of the Shrew, Goldilocks in Jan Kodet’s ballet for children of the same name and Teresina in Act III of the ballet Napoli. When it comes to the modern repertoire, she dances solo roles in choreographies by Jiří Kylián, Sinfonietta, Stamping Ground, Petite Mort, The Child and Magic and Last Touch, Petr Zuska, Ways 03, Among the Mountains, In the Mist, Les Bras de Mer, Ibbur, or A Prague Mystery (Angelina), Requiem and BREL – VYSOTSKY – KRYL / Solo for Three, Nacho Duato, Jardí Tancat, Alvin Ailey, The River (Americana II), Conny Janssen, Álbum Familiar, Itzik Galili, Through Nana´s Eyes, in Tomáš Rychetský’s Unspoken Silence and Libor Vaculík’s Lucrezia Borgia.
