Biography

Demi-soloist of the National Theatre Ballet Klára Jelínková was born in Prague. She studied at the Prague Dance Conservatory, graduating in 1999. In the same year she was engaged by the National Theatre Ballet as a member of the corps de ballet and in 2004 became a demi-soloist. Her classical solo roles include: Pas de quatre from Swan Lake, the She-Devil Doll and the Russian Dance in The Nutcracker, Colombina in The Nutcracker – A Christmas Carol, the Saracen Woman in Raymonda, the Polovtsian Woman in Polovtsian Dances, the Matchmaker in Wary in Vain, the Little Courtesan in The Taming of the Shrew and the Street Child in Romeo and Juliet. As regards modern repertoire, audiences have seen her in the roles of the Drunken Nurse in Libor Vaculík’s ballet Little Mr. Friedemann, Evil in Lucrezia Borgia, as well as in the choreographies by Jiří Kylián: The Child and Magic, Field Mass, Stamping Ground, Petite Mort, Sinfonietta, Petr Zuska: Among the Mountains, Ways 03, In the Mist, Requiem, Ibbur, or A Prague Mystery, BREL – VYSOTSKY – KRYL / Solo for Three, Shawn Hounsell: Imprint, Tomáš Rychetský: Unspoken Silence, Conny Janssen: Álbum Familiar, Itzik Galili: Through Nana’s Eyes and George Balanchine: Who Cares? She dazzled in the role of the Conjuror and Golden Fish in Jan Kodet’s children’s ballet Goldilocks. In addition to dancing, she has also devoted to choreography. In Miniatures staged at the Estates Theatre she created the choreographies entitled This Is It and So Teddy, Yulunga or Frustration in G. Klára Jelínková took part in a summer course at the Dance Academy in Cologne, where she gained experience in modern techniques such as Martha Graham, Horton, Limon, Jazz Dance, Hip Hop.
