Biography

Karine Babajanyan, soprano, was born in Armenia and graduated from the conservatory in Yerewan. She was a soloist with the Armenian National Opera and of the Koblenz Opera in Germany. Her repertoire includes Desdemona (Otello), Leonora (Il trovatore), Nedda (I pagliacci), the Countess (Le nozze di Figaro), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Manon Lescaut, Mimi (La bohème), the title role in Jenůfa, Agathe (Der Freischütz), Norma, Maddalena (Andrea Chénier), Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte), Leonora (La forza del destino), Liù (Turandot), Tatiana (Eugene Onegin), Tosca, Aida and many other roles. She has guest appeared at the Berlin Staatsoper, the Hamburg Staatsoper, the Frankfurt Oper, the Dresden Semperoper, the Zurich Opera, the New National Theatre Tokyo, the Beijing Opera, the New Israeli Opera Tel Aviv, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Finnish National Opera, the Bregenz Festival and others. In the 2017/2018 season, her engamements include Tosca in Leipzig, Manon Lescaut, Aida and Elisabeth de Valois (Don Carlos) in Hannover and Cio-Cio-San in Stuttgart.
