Guest of the Opera
A graduate of the Prague Conservatoire, the soprano Jitka Burgetová continued her musical education during a study stay at the Academy of Musical Arts in Sofia and she further improves her singing with private teachers. From 2003 to 2011 she was a soloist of the Prague State Opera, where she sang a number of important parts, e.g. Rusalka, Xenia (Dimitry), Mimi (both Leoncavallo’s and Puccini’s La bohème), Liù (Turandot), Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Micaela (Carmen) and Alice (Meyerbeer’s Robert the Devil). From 2001 to 2003 she was a soloist of the Municipal Theatre of Ústi nad Labem, where she sang e.g. Mařenka (The Bartered Bride), Princess (The Devil and Kate), Giorgetta (Puccini’s il tabarro), Tatyana (Eugene Onegin). Her remarkable singing and acting in the role of Tatyana drew attention of the Audience Jury of the “Opera 2003” festival, helping the Municipal Theatre win an award for its production of Tchaikovsky’s work. For her performance as Giorgetta in Puccini’s opera Il tabarro she was shortlisted for the prestigious Thalia 2004 award. Since 2005 Ms. Burgetová has been a regular guest singer on the stage of the National Theatre of Moravia and Silesia in Ostrava, where she successfully performed the title part of Dvořák’s Rusalka and appeared as Manon in the new production of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut. In 2012-2014 Jitka Burgetová was a soloist of the National Theatre Opera. She also gives concert performances; her repertoire includes songs and oratories by the classics of the genre as well as modern authors.
