Jakub Kettner

Guest of the National Theatre Opera Baritone Jakub Kettner studied singing at the Conservatoire in Pardubice and in the years 1989 – 1993 at the Academy of Music in Prague in 1993 with René Tuček. In 1997 he won a scholarship to study at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Graz, where he was tutored by Gottfried Hornik, soloist of the Vienna State Opera. He joined the Opera Mozart in Prague while in his last form at the Academy. Since 1996, he regularly guest-performed at Divadlo F. X. Šalda Theatre in Liberec; in 1999 – 2001 he was engaged here permanently. In 2001 he moved to Moravian Theatre in Olomouc where he remains to this day. At the end of the season 2009/2010 he performed two new roles for opera company in Olomouc: Giorgio Germont in La traviata and Escamillo in Carmen. In 2003, he guest-performed in National Theatre in Prague, in Philip Glass’s opera The Beauty and Beast, staged by Forman Brothers. Since 2006 Jakub Kettner regularly co-operates with the Prague State Opera, first as Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, since 2009 Amonasro in Aida; in 2010 he added to the role of Sancho Panza in the new production of Massenet’s Don Quichotte the role of Scarpia in Tosca, and in 2011 the role of Enrico in Lucia di Lammermoor.For more information, visit http://jakubkettner.com/ Update: September 2011
