Isabela Smečková Bencová studied acting at the Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno with Prof. Josef Karlík. Before enrolling at the school, she had performed at the Dagmar theatre in Karlovy Vary, the West Bohemia Theatre in Cheb and at the Minor Theatre in České Budějovice. After completing her studies, she was engaged for three years at the Polárka theatre in Brno, where she met her future husband, the actor and composer David Smečka.
For several seasons, she has been a member of the Klicpera Theatre in Hradec Králové, with her roles including Mimi in La Vie (directed by Arnošt Goldflam) and Gelsomina in La Strada(directed by Martin Stropnický). She has also performed in the productions Men About Town (directed by Vladimír Morávek), The Night of the Living Dead, Chocolate House, The Big Mermaid, The Shot (directed by David Drábek), Swan Lake, Eugene Onegin (directed by SKUTR), etc. She sings with the Mastix band, established by the Klicpera Theatre actors.
Her most remarkable roles include Blanche in the production of Williams’s A Streetcar Named Desire at the Buranteatr in Brno, and in the films One Hand Can’t Clap (directed by David Ondříček) and The Damned (directed by Dan Svátek).
