Guest of the Opera
Born in Caserta, south Italy, baritone Francesco Landolfi has has appeared in such venues as Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Leipzig Opernhaus, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich, Art Music Center of Seoul, Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman, Teatro Lirico di Cagliari, Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Grande di Brescia, Teatro Fraschini di Pavia, Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona and Teatro Alighieri di Ravenna, and he has cooperated with many distinguished conductors such as Riccardo Muti, Renato Palumbo and Bruno Bartoletti. His recent engagements include Rigoletto in Leipzig, Stuttgart and Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Amonasro (Aida) in Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich and Taormina Festival, Nabucco at Teatro del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and in Leipzig, Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Scarpia (Tosca) at Teatro Aurora of Gozo and Odeon of Herodes Atticus in Athens, and Ford (Falstaff) at Teatro dell’Opera Giocosa di Savona. He opened the 2016/17 season with Rigoletto in Stuttgart, followed by Rigoletto and Amonasro (Aida) at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. His future plans include Scarpia (Tosca) at the National Theatre in Prague and Stiffelio at Teatro Regio di Parma. He recorded L’Arlesiana by Cilea with Philharmonisches Orchester of Freiburg (SWR label).
Francesco Landolfi graduated from the conservatory in Benevento, and he also studied at CUBEC Accademia di Belcanto di Modena, Accademia Internazionale della Voce di Torino and Accademia Internazionale della Lirica di Sulmona. He is a winner of several international competitions, including “Toti Dal Monte”, “Mattia Battistini”, “Ruggero Leoncavallo”, “Mario Lanza”, “Maria Caniglia”, “Giacomo Lauri Volpi”, and others.
