Biography

Evan McKie was born in Toronto, Canada and trained at the National Ballet School of Canada and the Kirov Academy in Washington D.C. Following an invitation from Petr Pestov to come to Stuttgart, he completed his studies at the John Cranko Schule in Stuttgart. In 2009/10 he was promoted to Principal Dancer.
Choreographers who have created roles for Evan McKie in Stuttgart include Wayne McGregor, Marco Goecke, Mauro Bigonzetti, Christian Spuck, Edward Clug, Kevin O’Day, Louis Stiens, Bridget Breiner, Demis Volpi and Douglas Lee. He has also worked with William Forsythe, Jiří Kylián, John Neumeier, Marcia Haydée, Hans van Manen, Jorma Elo and Glen Tetley.
Evan McKie has recently performed as a guest dancer with the Paris Opera Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, Universal Ballet, The Tokyo Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada and the Ballet de Santiago de Chile. He is also a Principal Guest Artist of the National Ballet of Canada where he performs regularly.
In July 2012 Evan McKie received the Premio ApuliArte “Prix Grand Merit”.
Evan McKie has choreographed two successful works for the Noverre Society “Young Choreographer” evenings in Stuttgart. When he is not onstage, McKie works as a photographer and is also a guest writer for American Dance Magazine, Shinshokan Dance Magazine and the Chacott brand of Japan.
