Ekaterina Morozova

Biography

The young soprano first studied chorus conducting and singing in her hometown of Yekaterinburg with Professor Gurevich, later on at Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the tutelage of Professor Grigoriev. In 1996 she was engaged by the Moscow New Opera. At the 1999 Spoleto Festival she made an extraordinary debut in the role of Natasha Rostova in Prokofiev’s opera War and Peace. Thereafter, further successes ensued: in Italy, among others, in the role of Clorinda in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro in 2000 and in the title role of Donizetti‘s opera Lucrezia Borgia in Bologna in 2001. Singing the Queen of the Night in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte she debuted at the 2000 Salzburg Festival. She also interpreted this role on the stage of Berlin’s Deutsche Oper, at the Schwetzinger Festival, at Dresden’s Semperoper, as well as, to great acclaim, at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Since the beginning of the new season, Ekaterina Morozova can be seen and heard in the role of Donna Anna in a new production of Mozart’s Don Giovanni.
