He studied piano and conducting at the Conservatory in České Budějovice and subsequently at the Janáček Academy of Music (JAMU) in Brno (conducting with Jan Zbavitel and Lubomír Mátl, piano under the tutelage of Daniela Velebová). In February, 2000 he attended conducting master classes given by Sir Colin Davis in Dresden, in 2002 he had a four-month study stay at Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst in Vienna (with Prof. Leopold Hager). At the 2004 Belvedere international competition in Vienna, he won the Bösendorfer Preis in the opera coaching category. As a pianist, since 1998 he has regularly collaborated with the Prague Chamber Orchestra. He is also a sought-after chamber player and singer’s accompanist (since 2004 he has co-operated on a regular basis with Eva Urbanová – concerts in Prague, Bratislava, Madrid, Washington, etc., and in 2010, he cooperated with Adam Plachetka at the Prague Spring festival Concert). While still a student, besides preparing numerous operas for the JAMU Chamber Opera, he also worked as a coach and assistant conductor at the Janáček Opera in Brno, where since 2001 he has regularly conducted opera and ballet performances (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte, Křička: Czech Crib, Matějů: The Wizard of Oz, Verdi: Un ballo in maschera, Rossini: Il barbiere di Siviglia, Dvořák: The Jacobin). In September 2003, he was permanently engaged at the National Theatre in Prague, where as an assistant conductor and second conductor he has participated in exploring many productions, a number of which he has conducted (Mozart: Die Zauberflöte, Donizetti: Don Pasquale, Smetana: The Bartered Bride, Martinů’s The Miracles of Mary, Dvořák’s The Jacobin, Mozart’s Die Entführung aus dem Serail and Don Giovanni, Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande, Marko Ivanović‘ s Enchantia). He has prepared new production of Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore and ballets Othello with Janáček’s music, Prokofjev’s Cinderella, Tchaikovsky‘s The sleeping beauty, The Czech Ballet Symphony etc. In 2006–2008 he also conducted Opera Mozart summer performances at the Estates Theatre. He has collaborated with the majority of Czech symphony orchestras, in recent times above all with the PKF – Prague Philharmonia, Prague Chamber Orchestra, Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava, Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic Orchestra Zlín, Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra, State Philharmonic Orchestra Košice, Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, etc. Between 2005 and 2007 he was principal conductor of the Prague Student Orchestra, in the 2007/08 season he was assistant to the chief conductor Jiří Kout with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, where he conducted concerts for parents and children and in February 2008 also two serial concerts. In May 2008 he conducted Dvořák’s Rusalka at Rychnov nad Kněžnou Castle with the Hradec Králové Philharmonic Orchestra and the soloists Gabriela Beňačková, Eva Urbanová, Miroslav Dvorský and Richard Novák. When it comes to his numerous activities abroad, the most noteworthy include collaboration on exploration of Janáček’s operas Jenůfa at Barcelona’s Teatro Liceo (2005), The Makropulos Case at Opéra national de Paris (2007, 2009) and The Cunning Little Wixen in Lyon (2013) and at the Vienna State Opera (2014) or Dvořák’s Rusalka in Barcelona (2012) and Paris (2015). Since 2005 regular lectures at master classes within Sommerakademie in Biel, Switzerland. For Editio Bärenreiter, he prepared new vocal score of Janáček’s The Makropulos Case; it was used for the first time during rehearsing this title at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich (premiere in October 2014).
