Biography

Angela Kleopatra Saroglou was born in Thessaloniki, Greece. After completing her vocal training, until 2007 she pursued a career as a solo and chorus singer. She also studied at the School of Drama of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and since 1999 she has worked as an assistant director for opera productions in Thessaloniki, at the Greek National Opera in Athens and other opera houses in Europe. She has collaborated with renowned stage directors, including Gian Carlo Menotti, Graham Vick, David Alden, Yannis Kokkos and Renata Scotto. In 2013, she served as the production manager in Qatar, participating in the very first local staging of Verdi’s opera Aida. She has directed Henri Sauguet’s La Voyante, Baldassare Galuppi’s L’amante di tutte and Georges Bizet’s Carmen for the Greek National Opera. In June 2016, she directed G. F. Handel’s opera Scipione for the Händel Festspiele in Bad Lauchstädt, Germany.
