Biography

The tenor Aljaž Farasin became a member of the Slovenian National Theatre Opera and Ballet Ljubljana in 2013. He studied the conservatory, majoring in singing, under the mentorship of Professor Jolanda Korat. In 2008, he graduated with honours from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana in the class of Professor Vlatka Oršanić and received a Bachelor's summa cum laude for artistic achievements. In 2009/2010 he finished his postgraduate studies and perfected his vocal skills with the several teachers and soloists (Eva Blahová, Helena Lazarska, Marvin Keenze, Richard Miller, Breda Zakotnik, Irena Baar, Barbara Pearson). His professional opera debut at the Slovenian National Opera in Ljubljana was with the role of Sempronio ( Haydn: Lo speziale) in 2009 and since then he has appeared in many important tenor roles such as Tamino (Die Zauberflöte), Alfredo (La traviata), Rodolfo (La bohème), Camille (Die lustige Witwe), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Daland's steersman (Der fliegende Holländer), Don José (Carmen) and Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto). In June 2014 he appeared on Japan tour as Don José in production of Carmen in a cast together with Vesselina Kasarova and Oksana Volkova. He has performed on the stages of variety musical events, festivals and concerts in Slovenia and abroad.
