Alina Gurina

Biography

Permanent guest of the National Theatre Opera. Alina Gurina studied singing at Moscow’s conservatory. Between 1997 and 1999 she was engaged by the opera ensemble of Brno’s National Theatre, where she sang Bizet’s Carmen, Dalila (Saint-Saëns: Samson et Dalila), Santuzza (Mascagni: Cavalleria rusticana), Amneris (Verdi: Aida), and, later on, a number of other roles as a guest artist – Verdi’s Fenena (Nabucco) and Eboli (Don Carlos), the Foreign Princess (Dvořák: Rusalka). Within the summer 2000 tour with Brno’s National Theatre, she introduced herself for the first time in the role of Carmen to Japanese audiences too. In 2000 she appeared as a guest in the role of Mercedes (Carmen) at the opera house in Cagliari, Italy, and in the same year as Carmen for the first time at the National Theatre in Prague. Since 1998 she has regularly sung as a guest on opera-house stages in Germany. At the National Theatre in Prague and at Theater Erfurt she sang the Princess of Bouillon (Cilea: Adriana Lecouvreur). Her repertoire encompasses operatic, concert and oratorio parts (in addition to the mentioned roles, these include, for example, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 and Missa solemnis, Verdi’s Requiem and others). Alina Gurina sings both the classical and modern operatic repertoire. Update: 2006
