Alfred Mayerhofer

Alfred Mayerhofer, born in Schladming (Styria/Austria) has been producing costume designs for cinema and TV films and for countless operas, musical theatre and drama projects in Germany and Austria since 1992.
His works from the recent past include »Hänsel und Gretel« for the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar, »Der Vetter aus Dingsda« for the Baden State Theatre in Karlsruhe, »I pazzi per progetto« / »Le Bal« for the August Everding Bavarian Theatre Academy in Munich, »La traviata« for the Aalto Music Theatre in Essen, »Der Freischütz« for the Braunschweig State Theatre, »Des Kaisers neue Kleider« for the Komische Oper Berlin, »Der Ring des Nibelungen« for the Nuremberg State Theatre plus the TV series »Braunschlag« for ORF and the cinema film »Wie man leben soll«. During this time, he worked with such directors as Karsten Wiegand, Bernd Mottl, Josef E. Köpplinger, Andreas Baesler and David Schalko.
Alfred Mayerhofer has collaborated a number of times with Barrie Kosky. Together, they have brought such works to the stage as »Kiss me, Kate« and »Iphigenie auf Tauris« at the Komische Oper Berlin, »Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny«, »Tristan und Isolde« and »Der fliegende Holländer« at the Aalto Music Theatre in Essen, »Lohengrin« at the Vienna State Opera and »Poppea« and »Das Schloss« at the Schauspielhaus in Vienna.
For the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, Alfred Mayerhofer designed the costumes for »Dornröschen«, »Die Entführung aus dem Serail« and »Chitty Chitty Bang Bang« und »Schlagobers«.
